The Texas Music Museum located in the state’s capital, Austin, is keen in preserving and presenting the Texas musical history as well as the various influence and involvement of Texas musicians in the industry and world of music.
The Texas Music Museum was originally founded in the year 1984. It is appropriately located right in the heart of Austin which is not only the Texas political capital, but also as the state’s off the record music capital. Its mission is to showcase the big names of Texas musicians who have significantly made huge contributions to the world of music. The Museum has an array of displays and exhibits presenting the very impressive collection of memorabilia, artifacts, and other historical items. It also houses both traveling and temporary exhibits and showcases various music programs in music gallery areas.
The Texas Music Museum is basically a non-profit corporation which aims to support and develop the establishment of performance center in the state’s capital. It also preserves and promotes the music of Texas by showcasing 2 or 3 main exhibits per year which are most often, musical performances by various artists. Moreover, the Museum conducts various researches including the collection of artifacts, photographs, and significant documents that mainly pertains to Texas music. The Museum also provides various exhibits to other museums, libraries, schools, history centers, and other general and public facilities throughout Texas. The Texas Music Museum is primarily endorsed by the three main state music organizations, the Texas Music Educators Association, Texas Music Teachers Association, and the Texas Music Association.
