After the death in 1907 of talented sculptress Elisabet Ney, her studio in Austin called Formosa, was purchased by Joseph B. Dibrell and Ella Dancy in 1909. In lieu of this, they have chosen a board of managers and had the studio opened for the general public for extraordinary exhibitions.
